  • There is a temporary fix that will for for anyone using the Incredible S who face this signal problem. Go to Settings->Wireless & Networks->Mobile Networks->Network Mode and select GSM only(For users who have GSM SP) or WCDMA(For users who have WCDMA SP). If you dont know which is supported try both till u see an improvement. But this method doesn't allow you to use 3G. Only Edge. Hope HTC does something about this.

  • @suazomelvin09

E means EDGE and H stands for HSDPA/HSUPA(which is the new form of 3G) wth are u saying?

  • worst Buy,my phone dont get text messages, or Charges, I got to Wrap my Cord Around the Phone to keep it charging.

  • @DeathStrokeX240 sometimes phone compaines would describe that as 3g or 1x i know that E means 3g and i also beliveve that H stands for 1x but im not sure you should contact htc

  • if you grip it at the middle-bottom, it looses signal. hold it loosly more toward the top becuase the antena is in the bottom.

  • I have your problem, except I'll be at 4 bars, and when I make a call it drops to 0, and I'm unable to complete the call. This happens everywhere, not just at home.

  • this is why hicks shouldn't have cellphones - they don't understand them

  • This happens because your extender is on same GHz as your phone communicates on, this is something you can fix your self.

  • what happens when u have a cover

  • @nascarrunner motorola droid which has 2.1 on it

  • i have a droid and it always show one or no bars but we still can make calls and the person can hear me clear and i can hear them but for what ever reason it shows we have no service but when the bars go out our 3g goes away but we can still make calls i dont get it. oh and when the phone is taken off standby for the first few seconds it shows we have fukll signal and then always goes down to zero bars its annoying to see

  • Mine does the exact same thing. The signal strength doesn't seem to have anything to do with the number of bars displayed.

  • I know from experience on my Moto Droid that when you have wifi on your bar icon will drop to pretty much nothing and fluctuate. It's not a real issue, it's just something I really do believe is due to the wifi being on.

  • I use the extender too... I use it with my Eris and Incredible. My Eris signal bars pulsed like that too.

  • This seems to be a known issue with Android 2.1 and HTC phones. The bars at the top don't give an accurate reading of your reception. You had the right idea by going into the network information and getting a db reading.

You averaged about -75dbm, which is really good. Don't pay attention to the bars in the notification bar. Hopefully an OTA update can fix the accuracy issue.

  • Dude you still have more bars than I ever had, lol. I struggle getting 2 bars and my signal stays around -90dBm. I hope that they fix this issue soon.

  • I just got my phome today. Ay home I get -88...at work it isnt as bad and I get some 3G..but that is downtown. I am in Chicago. I did notice when you have ur hand on the back...it blocks the antenna. It even effects my wifi. Maybe the plastic is to thick. But I havent had calling issues.
