This is a vintage cassette recorder, and is DC BIAS. It uses all transistors, no chips.

  • Nice video. I didn't know that GE made cassette players so long ago. Looks a lot like a Craig from the same time period. Question: when you change belts on a machine and then the speed is a little slow, do you think that it's because the new belts are too tight, too loose or does the speed adjustment on the motor itself need to be fine tuned? I just put new belts on an AIWA TP-752 portable cassette (early 1970s) and it sounds great, but runs slow. How would you correct this?

  • Some motors have a speed control. Also a square belt with a smaller diameter can make the speed slow. And sometimes they can be slow to begin with. This one's main drive belt is still in it but it's a little slow.

  • Another G.E.similar to the old Philips/Norelco/Wollensak machines of the sixties.

Looks like you've got yourself a good pad to store your stuff! Some neat stuff that doesn't have a video yet appeared!

  • Mm-hmm. There will be plenty of stuff to be presented in the near future.

  • Why don't you use VWeslife's camera if this one has issues? :P

Great recorder! shame about the DC bias :/

  • I was trying it out.

  • Cool Find.

My older cousin had this very recorder when I was about 7 years old! I was so envious!

He told me I could play with it for one hour if I would let him record me saying the worse curse words that I could. I did. So dumb. He then went and played it to my mother.

I hid under the house for about 6 hours scared.

I never got the 1 hour of playing with the machine.

Cousin still remembers this, and also has the tape to this day.

    Family Memories!

    Joy oh Joy!

    Brent

  • It's kind of disapointing to find cool audio equipment yet to find out that its DC BIAS.
