Visiting Singapore and not going to the Science Center will render your Singapore trip incomplete. It is a great place and one of the most recurrently visited tourist spot in Singapore. Dr Toh Chin Chye, the minister of Science Board, inaugurated it on the tenth of December in the year 1997. Its cost was around S$12 million.
This Science Center was constructed with the idea of displaying science exhibits that were earlier an important part of the Singapore's National Museum. This Center was built to particularly concentrate on science and the advancements, leaving the National Museum dedicated to only historical exhibits.
The initial plans and ideas of constructing a science council in Singapore came up around the year 1969. The Government of Singapore supported the idea and later it was materialized and thus the Science Center came into being. Singapore's Government looked at this idea as a great way to promote science as a subject. Raymond Woo was given the charge of the construction of this fantastic science center.
There are more than 1000 science exhibits in this center, which makes it imperative to keep a good amount of time at hand for the spectators, while visiting this place. These exhibits are not only interesting to look at, they offer a great way to educate and inform people about the various aspects of science too.
