The 1973 Paris Air Show crash was the crash of the second production Tupolev Tu-144 at Goussainville, Val-d'Oise, France, which killed all six crew and a further eight people on the ground. The crash at the Paris Air Show on 3 June 1973 damaged the development program of the Tupolev Tu-144.It is possible that a French Mirage jet sent to photograph the aircraft without the knowledge of the Russian crew caused the pilots to take evasive maneuvers, resulting in the crash. Another theory is that in a rivalry with the Anglo-French Concorde, the pilots attempted a maneuver that was beyond the capabilities of the aircraft.

  • @danr8472 it was not more comfortable than concorde it was renowned for having serious issues with the noise from the engines. it wasnt surperior in any way due to it being rushed to market in order to achieve supersonic flight first. well they did that, but in a machine that didnt work, hence it being delayed for years after concorde went commercial before it operated its 50 odd flights then being shut down due to 1 too many accidents!

  • Best video about this sad day.

  • @akouzov forget the head count work on percentages - concorde killed what, less than 0.0001% of its total passengers, TU144 wasnt safe enough to fly much more than 100 times! bottom line - proud Russians pushed something into commercial traffic that wasnt ready and hugely flawed!

  • @lsteer100 its more lady-like ill admit.

  • @XLC54 Whole number of crashes was 2 only one of which resulted in fatalities. Big deal nether killed passengers just the prototype test crew who knew what they signed up for. 1 was original prototype, 2 was long range prototype. None of the commercial flights crashed nether did the LL. Cant say that the 1 crash that concorde did killed less than 15 people. So. concorde is the bigger deathtrap when you consider the total death headcount.

  • Did the French immediately surrender? Btw, silly french people, they DID have color film in 1973.

  • Omg..I hate the camcorders back then

  • Frightening, I couldn't imagine what it would have been like to be there in person. God speed to all those who perished.

  • what do the chinese have?

  • Very interesting and exotic footage! Thanks for share it here.

  • @Modellpecs yeah.
