From the Sega Ages Phantasy Star 1 remake for the PS2. Music, illustrations, dungeons, battle system, etc have all been redone.

Few of my videos have footage of the towns and dungeon walks, so I recorded the walk to Dark Falz. It shows Gothic, the flight to Motavia, Uzo, Paseo, and the walk through the final dungeon.

  • Once you played through these games, it's like a full life-time adventure passed in your memories, unforgetable.

  • Seriously, how hard could it be to translate this? All they have to do is copy text from the original and paste it into the remake. Why the hell hasn't anyone done that?

  • And finally, be ready and willing to have a DMCA takedown notice served even if you only release the patch with instructions on how to patch it.

It would be illegal under copyright law to distribute the already-translated ISO.

Not many people even know how to play or use backup PS2 games, let alone patching one. Guitar Hero gave some practice for people but every game is different.

Aside from legal issues it is just a big damn hassle for minimal benefit.

-Plus the 'crystal' system = overpowered

  • @Sideburns1986:

A lot harder than you think.

The basic way to translate is:

    -Reverse engineer the compression/decompression algorithms

    -'Dump' the game text

    -Create translated script

-Code a VWF (variable width font) in English (if not already present in the game code)

-Reinsert the script while maintaining proper word wrapping and line breaks

-Have volunteers go everywhere and playtest the hell out of it to catch bugs/glitches

-Try not to break anything while doing all this

  • @Sideburns1986 They did add some dialogues, and it's not Sega's fault if this game doesn't have a European and American localization.

From what I've heard, you can only blame Sony Of America who didn't want those remakes to go in America, cause as they've pretty much said, those games aren't good enough on their own to have a separate release.

So Sega tempted to make a compilation of those two games with the two others Phantasy Star Generation, but PSG3 and 4 were cancelled.

  • @Sideburns1986 a great question we're still asking ourselves 2 years later

  • they should release this on psp or ds in the u.s.

  • The last dungeon in this remake looks like dungeons on dezoris in PSIV

  • Sony can be real rotten some times not to say greedy. one is better than none and I know this would see like hot cakes.

  • No problem! :)

  • ok that makes more sense. So Sony told them if you want to release these games over here at the quality level they are you need at least the three of them to even pass the assurance. So the games weren't good enough to be released in North America by their own merit. No matter how good the games may be the work put into them wasn't enough. Thanks that helped a lot.
