KAPAGIPAT ( sagayan )

Kapagipat is the another healing ceremony, usually performed when someone is seriously ill for the appeasement of malignant spirits either from saitan (satan) or tunung (spirits of ancestors) believed to be cursing them. During this ceremony, two male/female shamans (preferably those in their fifties or sixties, for those who are younger are considered not strong enough to handle the spirits) would perform trance dances for seven days - mainly during evening and night hours except the last day which only during the afternoon. ( http://pnoyandthecity.blogspot.com ) In the curing rite called kapagipat and its variants, the tagunggo rhythm is played to accompany the dance ( sagayan ) of the exorcism of a medium in a the patient's house. the tagunggo is played by the kulintang ensemble to accompany the sagayan, a dance of communication with the world of spirits ( tunung ). The dancer-medium is often garbed as a warrior,armed with a kris and a shield. ( The Garland handbook of Southeast Asian music )

it is ritual or watever but we need to show this 2 the people that this is belong to moro and this is the past of moros nothing 2 hide.culture preserve lang yaman din lang ang pag uusapan mayaman ang moslem sa kulturA.during time na ignorance of islam pa..salam

Everytime I heard this music, I always remember the past time of my life used to happened in our mother land in mindanao before the arrival of islamic teachings. This is a form of a dance that will help our people to be meditated from their sickness.But now a days,it has gone due to the belief of islam.This symbolizes the culture of being a muslim and I'm very proud of being a MUSLIM.
