US Marines Fight Norwegian White Death Ski Troops

The US Marines were practicing as part of a NATO exercises with elite Norwegian ski troops. This scene shows how they got into the remote area where the exercises took place.

Russian, American and British marine are known as the best marines in the world.

But they all says " I hate my job...." whenever they meet Norwegian troops.

These Norwegian soldiers are weekend warriors. They're conscript national guard units. Morale is often not the best as most of them would rather be at home working instead of being in the bush playing soldiers. The quality is significantly lower than that of regular Norwegian troops. It's still an important part of the defence as a whole.

Vet ikke om det er helt gjennomsnittlig med sånne skiferdigheter blandt dagens vernepliktige. Men om så er har vel ferdighetene når det kommer til engelsk bedret seg litt.

Dette er altså soldater i et av Hærens (nå nedlagte) regimenter på rep. øvelse. Dette var noe de fleste vernepliktige gjorde 2 til 3 ganger i 2 til 3 uker etter førstegangstjeneste og frem til fulte 44. HV var et mindretall av Mob. forsvaret, men på høyere berdskap og trente 6 dager i året!! OG disse soldatene høres ut som de er fra Sogn og Fjordane. Det er vel kanskje ikke den delen av Norge med de mest optimale forholdene for skisport, så det gjør jo det hele mer imponerende.

These are not the Home Guard/ National Guard, but reservists from one of the old Army Regiments. They probably had less training post their 12 month basic service (perhaps one, two or three 2-3 weeks periods in 20- 25 yars) than soldiers in the Home Guard (training 6 days each year from age 18/19 until age 44).

Their accent indicates that they are from the western coast as well (Sogn and Fjordane county), not the best parts in Norway for skiing.

@NorViking94 Yes, this is an old-ish video clip, have a closer look at some of the equipment (not to mention the hairstyles/facial hair!). These guys are/were regular conscripts, our forces are much better equipped than this nowadays, especially the professional units.

@taffelost .... hey, we have something called HEIMVERNET, thats the people. They go to military school and learn the basics, like firing guns and basic medic stuff... All norwegians have to go to Heimvernet when there 18. But we also have a main army thats fully trained soldiers like the marines... But we also have Heimvernet with thud play a major part if Norway was invaded. All norwegians know how to use a gun.... Meanwhile in Fek, america only soldiers know how to do it right....

The irony is that while I'm one of the few Norwegians capable of producing a half-decent English accent, I'm also one of the few Norwegians that suck at skiing.

The other dudes always wondered why I was so happy when we reached a steep upward hill.
