The Next Generation Multicopter Project: http://ng.uavp.ch

This is my new 44cm NG using 15mm aluminium cross-rods. I'm using Hacker 20-20 motors and 12" EPP1245 propellers which lift the 1.44kg model without problems and with a lot of reserves.

  • I'm not putting down the work, just asking why I'm not seeing the one main thing only a helicopter can do.

It would be like building a Harrier jet model, but not having hover capabilities. Whoopee.

  • @barrymorrisss Man, these UAV can hover like hell! But hovering is very boring on movie, isn't it? We stopped making hovering movies years ago... ;) But rest assured, there are Power Hover Pilots out there, hovering the hell out of their UAV... :D

  • I watched a learning copter pilot once. He did one lap like this thing did, and then practiced hovering over the deck for the next half hour.

THAT is the measure of a copter, not flitting about.in circles.

  • Seems you never tried to build one of these? This is not true. Hoovering in place is quite easy... flying circles is, what confuses flight control algorithms...

  • Awesome! your `copter seems very stable. Did you write your own code or are you using one of the open source programs like aeroquad?

  • @barrymorrisss So you're not impressed, because... what is most difficult in a helicopter is a nonexistent issue with this sort of vehicle? Because the greater number of rotors make it much more stable, and multicopters have a much easier time hovering in one place than helicopters...

  • Looks very steady...

  • that made me very dissy..lol

  • love the antennas

  • good job...

  • Thanks for the input, Guindehi.

Putting someone's work down on the internet just makes you sound like an idiot. This obviously took a lot of work, and he certainly wasn't being a showoff about it, so don't be an ass. And I hardly think WATCHING a helicopter pilot in training qualifies you as an expert.
