Sick of nasty, thick cough syrup? Well, now you can transfer the active chemical to another liquid. Learn about laboratory chemistry through this easy-to-do experiment. All required materials are easily obtained at a hardware or grocery store. Isolate nearly pure dextromethorphan.

Note: this is not in any way illegal as dextromethorphan is an OTC medication and no other compounds are being produced

  • how muck lighter fluid o you add to the sruyp

  • @COBRA2K12 About a 1 to 2 inch layer in a water bottle

  • Would baking soda work as a base

  • @jtallen1186 I don't think so. It (HCO3+) is a pretty weak base, so I doubt it can convert the DXM from salt to base.
