If you look around the world at wht all the wars are about, its almost all about a sense of one group of people wanting to belong. Its a human requirement. The Monarchy gives the British this and makes them proud and feel secure. It does not hinder anything, in fact it helps us develop. The Royal Family participate in many programmes around the world.
