Traditional German food is considered by many to be heavy and fatty with meat and sausage dishes accompanied by fried potatoes or sauerkraut. While German fare remains popular,a new generation of chefs is giving the country's cuisine a modern makeover. Moreover,German food is also varied with many regional specialties.

  • LOVE German food. I went to Germany to stay with my German penfriend and had Bratwurst and proper heavy grey-coloured rye bread. I still crave it now...and my Oma Lotte makes the most amazing red cabbage, German potato salad and Farmer's Breakfast (I think she calls it that - Bauern Fruhstuck?!) Never tried CurryWurst though...I feel like I'm missing out...!

  • 0:50 his favourite dish is made from his mom....well thats kinda exotic xD

  • D Ö P P E K O C H E aka. K E S S E L S K N A L L !!!!! Now that is Food from the Rhineland not cheese sandwitch... -.-

  • ok....komm rein :)

  • My Grandma prepares me a plate everyday.

But on Monday she buys it from the butcher.

Sunday she makes a very good meal.

But her reproitaire is only 10 meals at best.

I call Friday "Fishstick Friday" Fishsticks and potatoe salad, and lemon =)

  • @WCiossek Ja, deine Grammatik im deutschen Satze ist ja auch wohl eher falsch!

  • @DerPijO The best dishes are always made by mum in Germany

  • @Rachiejane1 yes, its called Bauernfrühstück ;)

  • @Versohnung But this has nothing to do with German food ;) Go around the world, you will see it is the same in almost every country ;) I don't know much about vegitarians as I prefer meat (beef, pork, chicken, turkey, etc.). But you can go in any shop to get Chicken, Turkey and so on!

  • @SkyHawk1985 I'm living in Germany right now, so yes, I have tried the German foods, well no offense, but I hate the fact that most butcher shops only sell bizarre meats and sausages. No chicken breasts, or steaks. I lost 12 pounds here because I'm living as a vegetarian. I have to go to a farmer to get some good steaks, like Rib Eye.

  • @Versohnung Well if you say you hate germand food, it would be nice if you explain what exactly you hate? Have you tried german food befor judging? If you can answe those two questions I am willing to accept your comment as valid.
