Trying out my new hammock, certainly beats the old tent now that it leaks. A great product, I will be updating as I continue to use it.

  • I camp with my hammock all year. I've slept in it in temps as low as 10 degrees with the hammock, my 30 degree sleeping bag and a army poncho liner as an under quilt. The under quit is the key. Hang it so it has about 2inches of space between u and the liner. The liner will keep the cold out and a pocket of body heat will keep ur backside worm. To mush or to little space and I'll freeze. Also the sleeping pad moves to much while sleeping. And as u said, ur head and feet get cold. But a pair of

  • @blueninjaboy Thanks mate, still messing about with different sleep system myself. It seems there is no escaping the weight and size in the colder climates.

  • so after a bit more than a year how is it holding up have you gotten a lot of use out of it?

  • @tannim420 I actually went back to a tent system after some VERY cold nights in that hammock. In lighter weather it will be getting much more use. I should be back home in Australia soon enough and then it will certainly see some use in the field.

  • Really good review Shane. The mrs. Is pretty funny. Having met u I'd say she must have a sense of humor. Ur a funny dude ur self. I will be looking into this hammock my self. Thanks.

  • @midnightsurvival She at least thinks she is heheh.

  • I use a grand trunk hammock in the winter, they are large enough to put your camping pad in, which keeps out the cold from underneath. I also use the camo tarp for weather protection or I clip a couple ponchos together. Looking at this video, pull your hammock a bit tighter and make sure the hammock is high in the tarp because when you get in it will sag. Sometimes i bring along a US military gortex bivy sack for good measure. That and use a truckers hitch to get the tarp tight.

  • @midnightsurvival Yeah wool certainly can be cold. I don't think hammocks are 4 seasons unless you carry a tonne of extra gear to keep warm - at which point it's easier to just have a bivvy.
