Crosby dont got Dman or hatch to sit on him entire games.. Forsberg had an awesome physical strenght and could control games. Hes skill with the stick is the best is ever seen. Ive watched all.. I do not have any fav. Im neutral with opinions. All are great players nodoubt, but as i said, think of everything instead of being singleminded.

@R3js And Foppas grity was BIIIIg, hits hard his opponents, was prick on the ice but it was all his tactic to irritate his opponents, entertainment player. I think only Gretzky, Lemieux are ahead of Foppa when is a question about prime. Prime Foppa and prime Eric Lindros were excellent to follow, perfect packages. Messier was also perfect package.
-
@R3js I agree you, Forsberg was excellent , definetely Top5-6 forward of all the time. REal big winner type as well.

Is it possible to buy a copy of this game?

How about playoff goals and assists? If I remember correctly was Forsbergs percentages better during playoffs than the regular season... When it really mattered he stepped up his game.
-
And you cant compare prizes either, its alot depending on the team aswell. Forsberg had the ability to lift an entire team. He was mastermind on both defense and offense. I dont deny that Crosby is awesome, but he is only good offense. Same with Gretzky and Lemeiux. Thats why Forsberg is legendary. Mastermind. You have to play with all aspects. Not only one. Lidstrom got the same abilities as Forsberg, so fucking allrounded. That is what a player should be like.
-
I dont understand why you keep comparing players during different ERAs. Gretzky and Lemeiux played in a ERA when rough play wasnt allowed at all. They could nearly live on their speed and skill and just skate away from every player without being touched. Forsberg played in a ERA called "dead-puck" so many injuries.. And Crosby nowadays with good rules. Imagine Gretzky & Lem at "dead-puck" ERA. maybe wouldnt been same story, or Forsberg at his prime nowadays. You could always think that and that.
-
@silentghost23 he was the best player in the world "ARGUABLY" during 2002-03 where he beat out Naslund for the art ross trophy in the VERY last game of the season.
Its not a huge suprise that Naslund won the Pearson. The Pearson voted on by his fellow NHLers and coaches alike.
Forsberg at his best is as good as Sakic but thats it. Sakic was consitantly at his best though heading into the playoffs.
No suprise Sakic won the Conn Smythe and an NHL record 8 overtime playoff winning goals.
-
You have to understand though how different the NHL was when Forsberg played in his prime. All the hooking and holding existed back then and there was no new rules to give players more freedom on the ice. I love Crosby, hes a beast but dont discredit Foppa. At the time he was perhaps the best player in the world.
-
Thats a very good point and Forsberg played his prime during whats now known as the "dead-puck era". Imagine if the new rules after the lockout came into effect back in the late 90s, imagine how much more Forsberg could have done.
-
Peter Forsberg is the reason i got into hockey and fell in love with the NHL. I wasnt lucky to see Gretzky, Lemieux play in their prime but I enjoyed watching every second of Foppa. To me, hes a Hall of Famer and one of the best players to ever play the game and my favorite player of all time.

@MegaBryan1982 If anything, the pearson is voted by NHL coaches, and players alike, you know... the people that actually play against him and coach against him and stuff, thats kind've, sort've important to take into account
I view the pearson as a true measuring gauge of how the NHL minds think of the best. As evidenced by Naslund winning the Pearson over Forsberg in 2003. Rightfully so, Naslund lead the NHL in points, goals etc. and on the 2nd to last day, hejduk and foppa passed him though

Scoring during those times were greatly reduced. We now have rules governing the size of goaltender's equipment, we stopped the line changes on icing, and "obstruction" penalties have made it easier to get power-plays. All of these things contribute to the play of the game and the abilities of any given player.
I'll leave it with this and respond how you wish:
Any list of the top 10 hockey players of all-time should have BOTH Crosby's and Forsberg's name on it.
This is my favorite Forsberg game of all time! 0-5 to 7-5 and six points! That's called stepping up your game... and that's why no game for the Avs were over before they were over. (Please show the assists too, but thanks, I have been looking for this video!
