From wind turbines to solar panels Iranians are becoming more aware and turning towards renewable energy sources. They're also trying to find ways to reduce energy consumption.
The solar water heating systems on display at the 3rd international energy saving exhibition in Tehran are the first the draw the visitors who may not just be big fans green technology but simply more concerned about their gas and electricity bills.
Now that energy subsidies have been eliminated and gas prices are high people are turning to other sources of energy. Solar water heaters can help reduce their energy consumption by 70 percent.
Ever since the government has introduced its policies to change energy consumption pattern more and more people have been considering sources other than fossil fuels. The effect can be seen on this annual exhibition. More than 80 companies have taken part including more than 10 foreign companies from China, Germany, Turkey and France.
Even wind turbines have found their way to the exhibition.
Iran is the 16th producer of electricity in the world and is working to achieve sustainable development in the field of renewable energy. Iran is now producing 2100 Mega Watts of electricity from renewable sources. The target set for 2025 is 12000 Mega Watts which is 10 percent of the annual production.
Meanwhile figures show that Iranians are becoming energy aware and changing their consumption habits.
The total power peak demand in summer has decreased to 39140 megawatts from 40150. This shows that people know the value of energy and are consuming more wisely.
And as the country moves towards commercialization of Green Technology this annual exhibition will continue to focus on sustainable energy, renewable energy and green energy over the coming years, while providing visitors with essential information about innovative eco-products and services.

Apparently, you do not understand the concept of "renewable energy". It doesn't matter where Iran is located, burning fossil fuels is not an efficient means of generating energy any longer, as compared to clean and green renewable energy. Try googling this foreign concept, my friend...

Nuclear power is the most important, it's very strategic. Western states are trying to monopolize nuclear technology.

Why does iran have an energy problem? They are located in the most oil rich part of the world.

@merccc1 Greed indeed has been destroying nature and communities around the world.
Amazon rain forest burning, ambient air pollution, Mountain Top Removal, though provides only 5% of nations coal has leveled 800 square miles of mountain as a means for cheep profit.

@SereneiBE not the majority sadily. Now even less with china limiting the shit out of the majority of resources produced by china for the industry. just more bs that delays a better planet, better society, and keeps us from moving on and making out planet and lifes better in other ways. We are stuck on matter such as this for soooo long just because of greed of people in a whole that just want make a profit of cash they wouldnt be able to use in their lifetimes.

@merccc1
our wind and solar.
Solar pv grid nearly doubled from 23 GWe to 40 gwe 2008-2010 Wind 121 GWe to 198
Wind Power average a growth of 30-40% annually as more and more people become interested in saving energy, protecting our planet. In many places wind is actrually cheeper then goal. Michigan Public Service Commission Coal133$ MWH Wind 102$. In the Mid west, wind is actrually cheeper then coal.
every day more and more are also going solar.
Us Americans care.

All the smaller countries are going to renewable countries, because they are cheaper and more efficient. It is hilarious that the bigger countries are so against it.... by the time we run out of our current energies they are going to be the new great powers lol ....
