PS2 Underrated Gem: Contra: Shattered Soldier

Apparently Konami has joined the blood sucking fest of youtube greed and has put a visual content claim on my vid despite that fact that it's fair use, because I captured, played (rather poorly), and edited the footage shown here, but now they're trying to rape for ad revenue. Both EA and Sony have done this to me as well on other vids. Thank you youtube. It's like every day you make posting vids here all the more worthwhile to me........

This is a series of gameplay vids I'm doing highlighting overlooked games for the PS2.

After striking-out twice with two sub-par efforts (Legacy of War and C: The Contra Adventure) to bring Konami's venerable franchise into the 3D realm, Konami finally learned their lesson, and brought Contra in to 3D in style, by going back to the seires' roots. Contra: Shattered Soldier is oldschool Contra gameplay thrown into 3D graphics for a 2.5D action game that rocks hard-corps (A little Contra humor).

This has the classic Contra feel, and, as you can see, the classic Contra difficulty. It is however learnable and beatable. I'm playing on normal difficulty in this vid, but you can make it easier. I probably should have, but I'm very close to beating the level.

This is another game that's going to take a lot of time and patience in order for you to master and eventually beat. It's oldschool tough, but as with other classics, it's perfectly learnable. However some people will be too frustrated to ever see the game through to the end.

Contra: Shattered Soldier is only on the PS2.

the new Hardcorps Contra from Arc System Works should've took a note from Shattered Soldier! From the studio that made Guilty Gear- its WAAAY too soft.

On the cover of the box for this game it said "square off against HUGE boss enemies" If you ever played this game you'd know they weren't fuckin around.
