    you're complaining how the riffs aren't advanced enough to create something advanced and innovative in and of itself, yet you're criticizing Death, one of the bands to help pioneer death metal and one of the main reasons why we're all here watching this video. you're also criticizing Gene Hoglan, one of the most recognized and respected drummers in the metal world. technicality and complexity aren't what make good songs and talented musicians. keep that in mind. Meshuggah fucking sucks too

    His music taste is a bit more softcore. I would imagine the only reason he listens to Necrophagist is because it's "T3CNIKAL SH1T3!!!!1!!11!!!". It doesn't seem like he knows how to appreciate well written music. But people who only value technical aspects of music don't get the whole picture anyway, so why bother having a discussion when he doesn't consider half the factors we do?
