This weird spinning top turns itself upside down. someone please explain this to me.

  • This has to do with the moment of the inertia of the spinning and where the mass is most concentrated. I.e. at the stem and not at the hollow round part

  • oh yeah! because the round bit is hollow so the stem must be heavier.

  • haha i love those i got a few wooden ones from japan they were stripped though so it looked pretty cool as it spun

  • It has to do with moment of inertia but minimal one. The top while spinning changes because heavier part tends to go where spinning is "easier" and that is up where there is less side movement.
