  • This video should be used in a master class. You get to see how the top singers back in the day used amazing breath control combined with impeccable phrasing. Even though Eydie Gorme's performance is technically spot on, she communicates the lyrics in such an authentic emotional fashion. In other words, she "sells the song" to you. We are absolutely held in thrall. Remember, many of the recordings were done live with the orchestra. This performance was done right off the floor. Bravo!

  • This performance is pure gold!

  • FLAWLESS, STUNNING PERFECTION!

  • If I had to listen to one recording over & over forever & ever, it would be this one.

  • If EVER any singer DESERVED every inch of the Grammy Award, it's Ms. Gorme for this intense, beautiful interpretation of the big song from "Mame" which she was awarded in 1967 (I think...?). I haven't watched the Grammy-s since the mid-to-late 80's. I guess you know you're REALLY well into middle-age when not only do you not know the new songs, but you can't distinguish between the name of the song, the groups, the album or the group or singer. Yikes! I've become my dad.

  • WOW! She is amazing. I saw her in person at the 5th Avenue Theater in Seattle in the 80's. Everyone came up to me, thinking I was her daughter. They say I look like Eydie. I wish I sang like her. Thanks for posting her. Janice

  • @CAREHAVEN My favorite song!!!

  • Attention Glee wannabes and existing castmembers - study this, learn the techniques, and try to channel the emotions before singing again. Each of you is wonderful, talented, trained, and skilled. You need to stretch out a little, however, beyond fluff and belting, in order to reach this level of "selling" your songs.

  • And don't forget how flawlessly and economically she uses hand and body language to convey the song. A small thing, but she's incomparable.

  • 6 people need a stronger hand....

  • Power is fine as long as there is control. This lady has both....

  • Amazing
