  • Why do i care about one race? What about the white race? Why isnt there WHITE STUDYS ONLY?

    Wait, that would be racist

  • I wouldn't have a problem with Chicano studies if we weren't so disproportionally undermanned in other areas, especially the sciences and engineering fields, I dislike because it pulls young Latinos (already underrepresented in college) away from the areas like the sciences where income and career potential is way higher. Alot of people going into this field desire to better our community but fields like Chicano studies aren't going to get that done, science, engineering and math will.

  • Chicano Studies is just as valid as any other degree in college. It doesn't matter what you study: you go there so you can learn how to think. The majority of classes a student takes at college are geared towards general education anyway. I would love to choose this as my major so I could learn about my family and my ethnicity. I'm a 1/4 non-hispanic white as well and I don't think that there is anything racist about this degree. Some give it a bad name and face, but that's the real minority.

  • What a waste of TAX payers money. Chicano Studies, what a joke!

  • @09bassman chicano studies involves knowing about our history and how our culture is now and isnt prohibited to other races who would like to learn about chicanos and all mexicans. second of all how do you want us to be more "american" than we are if you downsize and criticize us all the time I mean without us you would be shit. why dont you say the same about african american or asian or native american studies? I dont blame you whenever the economy is down you HAVE TO be racist to somebody.

  • @09bassman Chicano Studies is meant to learn not only the white history but also the history of Mexicans in the United States. Growing up I was really taught nothing about Americas but mostly about the majority (whites). In no way is it anti-American. You must not know that the United States is not only composed of whites but also other ethnicities. Whites were not the only ones who contributed to this Great Nation.

  • Chicano studies is meant to make a race of people feel special about them selves!!! Social "Studies" is not a Science!!! Why do they call it Liberal Arts!!!??? Because they're all Communist Liberal Progressive Socialist, Anti-White, Anti-Americans!
