A very fine traditional tune. I suppose the most popular versions are by Christie Moore and Paul Brady, and both performers use an open D tuning on guitar. I'm playing this as a short instrumental in C on tenor guitar, with the backing guitar in conventional tuning.

  • the song is well known in Ireland and frequently sung, but I would think it originated in the US sometime after the civil war

  • You look a bit like my guitar teacher in disguise! haha...great video. I'm wondering if this was originally an Irish song?
