Child Porn Is Not Free Speech

The term "child porn" is a misnomer. Porn from a legally operating industry involves concenting adults. Children can't concent to being in sexual situations, thus any image that dipicts them in such a manner isn't porn, but simply just an image of child sexual abuse. By no means is the rape, abuse and exploitation of a child a similar offence to pornography as we know it; we do a major disservice to the victims as well as the public by continuing to call this abuse “child pornography.”

in my state the age of consent is 16. you can have legal sex with a 16 year old girl, but if you take a pic of her naked than you have committed a felony. many young teens have gotten felony charges and put on the sex offender registry because they took naked pictures of themselves and sent them on their cell phones. we need a better definition of "child porn" that does not punish teens for taking pics of themselves and notes the difference between a 6 year old and a 16 year old.

I, and many on this comment chain, find child pornography to be horribly disgusting and offensive. But that is not why it should be illegal. It should be illegal because of consent laws; if a child cannot consent to sex below the age of consent (usually 16, but it varies by state), they cannot consent to participation in a porno. That is why it should be illegal, because free speech is only free if the speaker freely consents to it! That it is offensive should have nothing to do with it.

Child porno is the most heinous thing on the planet? Are you kidding me? It's not even close! Not by a long shoot. What about an old lady getting her teeth knocked out?

I agree with the government going against child porn. But, i hate the fact that congress has to actually pass an act for it. Shouldn't this be something the states should regulate? Im just not a fan of giving the federal government more power on matters of domestic concern.

"No judge would even consider that, and no prosecutor would do that."
Trust our judges and prosecutors to justly apply an overly broad law? NO WAY! I don't trust them ONE IOTA. They routinely push the limits of the law whenever it's politically expedient to do so. This law should be struck down. We already prohibit child porn, why do we need to prohibit JOKING about it?
"Child porno is not covered under the first amendment."
It isn't? How not? Is there a CP exception in the constitution?

What is a "natural" process of maturation for a child? Who defines that? Does any such thing even exist? Since I'm a Christian, I'd prefer they be raised according to the Bible. Others have different ideals. But I don't think there's any ideal which can be called truly natural.

I understand. Violence makes me ill, and its portrayal on TV is sickening. Yet why violence is considered acceptable entertainment while sex is not just blows my mind sometimes! Is it any wonder you hear people say they'd prefer a child be killed than subjected to "sexual abuse" (however they define that.) There is no logic involved.
These dirty pedophiles are not being prosecuted for TALKING about their disgusting practices, they are being prosecuted for sexually abusing children!!! So let's just give them the death penalty and we won't have to worry about them re-offending, and they all re-offend! Get rid of the scum for once and for all! Just tick another slag's name off the list and consider it a job well-done!

I am right though. I can't imagine what this country would be like if people like you ran it. There are people who spend their lives fighting for children and their rights. You are fighting for the rights of perverts...and I am still sure you are one. You shouldn't care if they legalize it. Your hard drive is already full.
