Location is Canadian National's Schiller Park Yard (shared with Canadian Pacific), in, well, Schiller Park, Illinois, a close-in, northwestern Chicago suburb. BC Rail C44-9W #4652 and CN SD70M-2 #8826 bring their train, M343, after a crew change at the yard office, to the north end of the yard and set out a bad-order gondola of pipes (the load had shifted). That yellow "thing" the train passes is an NREX leaser GP15-1, enroute back to NRE. The train then waits for two others- the "Wheeling Local", L503, and Metra North Central Service train #121.
Later, the location is Metra's O'Hare Transfer station, called Junction 20 by CN. Here, a very long yard lead feeds into the main. Trains often wait out the Metra rush hour here, and/or for clearance across UP/CP at Deval Tower further north. Metra passengers can transfer to shuttle buses to O'Hare Airport's transit system here as well. The first train seen here is L503, with CN/IC GP38-2 #9635 leading several cars from industries up the line. Next, M343 with BCOL 4652 pulls up to the Jct. 20 signals and waits for Metra to pass. Arriving from Chicago Union Station, Franklin Park, Schiller Park and Rosemont and heading to Antioch, Illinois, F40PH #104, the "City of Chicago", leads northbound North Central Service train #121 with 5 bilevels (only two of which are open to passenger use!). CN M343 will follow several minutes behind the northbound Metra on its way into Wisconsin.
~Thanks for watching!~
