For all our claims of "power", man is actually among the weakest species on earth. Take away the gun and send a hunter into the wild among true predators like these and there are very, very few who'd last longer than a couple of days, at most. Conclusion? No matter how much of a badass you think you are, a lion would tear you 10 new ass holes in 2 seconds flat.
