This is a series of test renders and animation sessions featuring the JPOP virtual idol, Hatsune Miku, using the recent (beta) release of the Blender animation tool.

An amazingly anim-ready model of Miku-chan is available in Blender format by Kio, with permission for anyone to use. Blender's a bit intimidating, but Kio has a great pose rigging system for Miku, so it only took a couple days for me to produce the motions you see in this video.

Hatsune Miku sings songs, usually produced using Yamaha's Vocaloid software, so she's entirely virtual. Fans are invited to create her videos! This piano cover is a great (non-virtual) rendition of one of her top hits, "World is Mine." I found this piano cover on YouTube, by a great pianist and fellow Miku fan, Josuwa. Thanks!

  • What softwear is this?

  • @Cosplayepisodestv, as the title suggests, the software is called Blender. The video description says "using the recent (beta) release of the Blender animation tool." Not sure why I typed all that out, really.

  • How do u do the blink?

  • @Jagatia - at around 0:30, you see I am selecting different shape keys in the model. You can animate shape keys just like anything else: set a keyframe with the "eyes closed" shape key at 0 before the blink, at 1 when you want the blink to be complete, and back to 0 when the eyes should be fully open again. The animation will smoothly close the eyes and open them again between those moments.
