i agree with the BAN. DO NOT LIMIT. Racing is soooo full of money that there is bound to be tons of corruption and abuse. Show jumping, i would say, is the second highest paid right behind racing and that is FULL of horrid bits, drugging and unspeakable things. i can only imagine how much worse racing is!

@xAshleyxlovesxyou - If you hit a horse hard enough it could hurt them , I totally agree with you about using it to get the horses attention and I'm the same way with the horses I ride !

A limit is great, but they shouldnt ban it. Sometimes the horse needs an extra pop on the butt when he's running down to the finish line. I have an off track TB, and once my trainer was handing me a crop, and he took it in his mouth, waved it around, and tossed it on the ground. Lol he's NOT scared of a crop, and it dosent hurt them at all.

Whips should not be banned. Whips also help keep the other race horses a safe distance away. If a horse is flank to flank galloping full speed, someone will get hurt. I do not agree with beating a horse but a simple tap that the horse can feel would not hurt a stubborn horse. If you have to beat a race horse then they are either not fast enough for that job or there training is not all there. Some horses are lazy and need that little tap to tell them to keep going for a little longer.

The whip doesnt hurt the horse . They have a thick layer of skin . The whip is used to get the horses attention . I Do use a whip because my horse is lazy a good bit of the time . I Also use spurs but they do not hurt him in anyway or source . The whip is basically used to make a horse go faster . How ? the loud noise of it hitting their butt causes them to go faster. My Horse is really stubborn at time n the only way I Can get him to act right is with a good little pop on the butt .

Here in norway, they banned the use of whip in racing a long time ago,
and the horses still manage to get around the track.
Simply banning the whip is also essentially an easier way to deal with the issue
and discussion of how much or how strong use is allowed.

There is no need to whip horses while they are racing. That is so very, very cruel.

This tool is one I have never used for the purpose of racing. However I have been kicked lightly and had bones broken. I have seen horses kick each other with both barrels, and they have no effect on one another. The nasty "whip" has an effect on the psyche. It does not hurt the horse one damn bit. I am not an advocate of bunny huggers by any means but I love a well breed T.B. and he will run just as fast without the crop.
