  • I'm new to this wonderful and truly American musical form. My daughter age 12 is taking banjo lessons and LOVES it. So here I am age 55, loving these pickers!

  • @MsJollycholly Wonderful news!! Welcome to the Bluegrass family.

  • when was this recorded/?

  • @TheThurmond I believe it was October 2008.

  • The world would be a much better place to live if music like this could be broadcast regularly on the radio and tv. This is music from the America that everyone was so proud to be a part of. Music from a better time.

  • Amen!

  • Here here! dmeadows555 I could not agree with your more. Sure could be alot better than the garbage put on the radio now. With a much better message. Its so true this is a piece of American culture that built this country literally, steel mills,Textile mills,Farms,Factories,Soldiers that fought civil wars, and two world wars, Rail Roads, Coal Mines. That proud heritage runs deep. This is one person that never forgets what those individuals did.

  • it pains me that i couldnt find this music ealier!!!!

  • @polmaccaba01~~~ I mean no disrespect but first you say it's bastardised celtic music and then go on to say Bluegrass is American. Can't have it both ways. How is it do you think these songs came to be? Bluegrass evolved from Welsh/Irish/Scots immigrants who passed them to their Welsh-American, Irish-American, and Scots-American children free and clear. Even the prefix "a" (as in "a-sleepin', a-sweepin', a-washin') used mainly in mtn-speak is a gift from our Celtic roots. Bastardised? Pffffttt.

  • @MsJollycholly It aint american, its a bastardised version of celtic music, in particular the fiddle, which was played by the Welsh, Irish and Scots. The banjo has some history in America but surprisingly enough it has African roots. That being said blue grass music is American, it is the american thank you, and shake of the hand to all the brave people that made America their home when all other options failed.

  • ricky scaggs has touched on a lot of things that weigh heavy on my mind. my father died in 89. my mother is still here, but it's just a matter of time. i know i will see them when i cross over.it is so hard to let go.his music moves me

  • rickey scaggs is the best country and gospel singer i have ever heard. period. he sings like he understands everyones problem. he is a humble man that sings through his heart. you can't do much more than that. you can tell he believes. and that is VERY AWESOME.
