Many have expressed a desire to talk about Christopher Hitchens, his writings, his speeches, his influence on their lives.

In the wake of his much-too-early death, we spend time reflecting on Hitch's life and legacy.

I referenced the debate between Hitch and Rabbi Schmuley Boteach. Here's the link to view: http://youtu.be/vnMYL8sF7bQ

  • Humanity has lost one of our best. Let's not forget his point.

  • Even a month later it just feels so wrong that he died at 62, I'm not even an atheist, and I admired him for calling out organized religion on its hypocrisy, irrationality, and bigotry. As a gay man I appreciated the times I heard him speak out for gays. Christopher Hitchens may not have always been a sweetheart, but I believe he was a smart and good man who made an important contribution to the world. May he live on for years to come through his work, and his words.

  • I don't know if I would've ever known of him without his death. He changed me. He helped me stand up. I am not in debt to him, but rather, I am reminded that I was in debt to myself. I owe myself life. Here's to Christopher *takes a drink in his honor*.

  • The night after he died I had a dream that I met him in his house. He was lying down on a sofa - he looked terrible. I walked up to him and told him that I had always wanted to talk to him. He sat up - indifferent to his own condition and we talked.

  • We salute you. Thank you..........Thank you for helping us have a better outlook on life

  • Even now, the reality hasn't set in. I'm starting to think the reality of his demise will never register to me. To every 4 billion, there's one Hitchens; if that. In time, dozens can take his place, but he will never be replaced... It makes sense...

  • The question of who will take his place is a difficult one, since he cannot be replaced as a personality, and a mind. I'm an 18 year old student - and I'm going to damn well try and continue his cause. It would be irresponsible - as a great admirer of his - not to take up the challenge and privilege of furthering his work, and creating my own. Watch this space, comrades, fellow mammals.

  • who takes his place...is there anyonecapable....great man?

  • Seth, yes Hitch was great, but don't sell yourself so short. You have managed to put a personal face on atheism. I applaud your work bringing out us ordinary everyday folks to share our stories. Hope to see you in DC!

  • @tdjdk correction we are all african apes xD
