TV was so great back then, SCTV, SNL, Martin Mull on Fernwood Tonite and the musicians that appeared on these shows were fantastic. Sad to see John Candy here as he was one of the best funnymen ever, only to die so young. Thanks for posting and wish cable would re-run this SCTV series...

I miss SCTV. Simple sketch comedy that worked, even with silly premises like The Fishin Musician. Some of the humor was uinquely Canadian, but most of it translated even to American audiences.

Hall & Oates, Joe Walsh, Jimmy Buffett etc. Obscure acts like the Tubes and the Plasmatics. All in all a pretty good lineup of guests for a no-budget sketch comedy show from Edmonton and Toronto. I love that they're playing live in the studio, and I love that Gil tricks them with the promise of a fabulous . . . TURKEY DINNER!!! WHOOO!!!
