SOMALI PIRATE GHOST

RANSOM DEMANDS - In compensation for roughly half the total cash value of all fish stocks taken illegally from Somali waters in the past twenty years, the authors of 'The Somali Pirate' call for an immediate restitution by the international community of US$2.5 billion to be paid directly back to the Puntland government to redistribute among its impoverished fishermen citizens with full oversight provided by the U.N.

If this agreement is unacceptable to the world community, we ask the monies go directly into infrastructure, social services and waste cleanup along Puntland's coastal areas in compensation for two decades worth of their environmentally degrading fishing practices and illegal dumping of hazardous wastes.

Finally, we demand that any anti-piracy Task Force deployed to the region pursue all unlawful maritime activities with equal resolve, including illegal fishing and toxic waste dumping - not just Somali piracy.

Until these demands are adequately met or addressed, Somali Pirates will continue to exploit the concept of 'pay-back' to justify thier activities.

The foreign businessmen who make the decisions to secretly dump their companies' wastes along Somalia's shores are concerned only with aggrandizing exquisite personal wealth, and while they would seek the toughest possible penalties against someone who would dump toxic waste in their own children's sandbox or swimming pool, they have no problem committing this repulsive and cowardly abomination upon the children of Somalia.

Great video. Thank you for posting. Please keep telling it like it is, because there are too many ignorant people out there who believe there are lawless pirates out there, endangering their people. When we know in reality it's the Somali fishermen who have long been subjected to danger!
