Battery Hen Liberation - Henderson Valley Road

Auckland Animal Action anonymously recieved the following communique.

Early on Sunday morning, the 19th of November, animal rights activists broke into a battery hen farm in West Auckland removing 35 chickens.

Activists gained entry into Eggs R Us on Henderson Valley Road, by cutting a large hole in one side of a shed.

The shed contained row after row of caged hens. Dozens of rats could be seen running between cages. Many of the birds were in a poor condition, having missing feathers and red inflamed skin from rubbing on the bars; all the birds were de-beaked.

The conditions on this farm were unfortunately standard for this cruel industry; filthy, overcrowded and inhumane.

Nobody genuninely concerned about animal welfare could find these conditions acceptable.

While the 'Animal Welfare' Act continues to allow and indorse such cruel conditions, activists will gain entry to farms by any means necessary to liberate hens from a life of suffering.

I disagree with the abhorrant conditions these animals are forced to live in, and the way they are slaughtered. The only 'humans' affected in this case are the perpertrators.

I disagree with this. Surely you could rescue more hens by having the farmer's permission like the BHWT does in the UK. They've already rescued 80,515 hens and they weren't breaking the law.

Nice one. Whatever the chickens fate of being let out and not used to the outside world, anything beats being in a cramped cage for life. Battery hens shouldn't be legal, it makes a nazi death camp look like a holiday compared to that.

More people should actively attack these places.
