The Iron Giant (1999) Starring the Animating Talent of Richard Bazley, Bob Davies, Stephan Franck, Tony Fucile, Gregory S.E. Manwaring, Steve Markowski, Mike Nguyen, Wendy Perdue, Chris Suave, Dean Wellins, as well as Lauren Faust. Oh and the voice talents of Jennifer Aniston, Harry Connick, Jr., Vin Diesel as the Giant, Christopher McDonald, John Mahoney and Eli Marienthal-
Directed by Brad Bird
The grand and fun story of a Boy and his Robot from Outer Space, at the Height of the cold war in 1957. And right on his tail the whole way through is an underdog FBI agent, just waiting for him to slip up.

This is such a fun film that gives action, suspense, emotion and grandeur in a package fit for any audience, which makes it all the more remarkable that this was Bird's first feature film. Bird has since gone on to work for Pixar Animation Studios, directing The Incredibles (2004) and Ratatoille (2007), and working on many other features within Pixar, including many of their shorts, and Wall-E (2008).

This is one of my favorite films, and it was hard to find a succinct scene that carried the pungency of awesome that was the film, that still fit in a small clip.
Here, Kent Mansley the FBI agent tries to give warning to General Rogard about his finding of the giant.

Lauren Faust animated sequences with Annie, Hogarth, and occasionally Dean.

  • Lauren Faust????????? Who read her name in the description?

  • @randommovieguys She is listed in the credits under "Animators" at about the 80th minute. (1:20.00)

Michael Gagné, the now renowned Graphic Novel artist is also one of the Effects Animators.

  • Did anyone notice the that the phone smashing scene echos the scene in the Incredibles where Bob tries to close his car door and breaks it, then loses it?

  • @TheWs235 Brad Bird has a definitely identifiable style to his direction.

I'm looking forward to the new Mission Impossible movie because of this.

Animators can only push the motion as hard as their voice actors can push the sound.

  • @ronnydthechicken But you realise that they record and use the voice actors themselves as inspirations for animated scenes right? They have to study the emotions on the actors face to get the scene right and sometimes they even make the voice actors dress up and act out the scene to get the atmosphere and movements right. True not many animators get much credit in most movies but voice actors are just as important as them.
