Invention and perfection of the Floating Axle King Arthur Trebuchet. I (Craig Macomber) invented the Floating Axle King Arthur Trebuchet (FAKA) in October 2006. The design was optimized through computer simulations and scaled up to make the Golf Ball Beast (GBB) in 2007. GBB threw over 320 feet with 5 pounds of counterweight, and 690 feet with 15 pounds. My design was then scaled up and improved structurally by the engineers at Janicki Industries when they made J-Buchet which was entered in the Burlington Pumpkin Pitch in late September 2007. It got second with a top throw of 1083.9 feet and won the efficiency award. See http://thehurl.wikidot.com/trebuchettypes:faka for more info

  • what kind of track do you have on that thing

  • It's just some angle iron with the corner up.

  • i am confused can the 2ed trigger be a pressure trigger. (like one that will hold the arm in place until enough pressure acts on to the trigger that the trigger will swing open)

  • It's not a pressure thing. The secondary is released once the hanger gets to a certain part of its rotation. There are more details on my site.

  • Man, that's still just awsome, what is that building set you used, mechano?

  • Thanks. The small ones are built with K'nex.

  • @mexialaskan9182 It's my own invention and design. Details are available on my site linked in the description, including info on related designs upon which I built.

  • faka = fucka xD

  • I hadn't seen this video yet. 690 golf ball throws with a a 15 lb counterweight is impressive. Also, the math to simulate this is not something just anybody can do. Did you develop your own?

  • nerd

  • my knex faka axel throws 96ft 5inches

  • What efficiancy did the last one have?

  • I just finished building mine. I'll post a video soon . This video was the inspiration for mine! Thanks!!

  • what kind of sling do you have on the trebuchet from 1:16 to 2:00?
