The legendary Egyptian Air Force? What an absolute joke. The Israelis lost more aircraft in the Six Days War, where they destroyed most of the "legendary" Egyptian Air Force before it could even take off. And yes USA did help Israel. But I don't think the Egyptians were flying around Egyptian designed and built aircraft. They were using Soviet equipment. So I guess Sadat was giving favors to Brezhnev by yos1994's logic.
