A preview of the documentary now in production by Radio Free Canada - and a call out to anyone involved in social change to come to Kelowna on Sept. 11th of this year. Police Brutality is a serious issue in BC - and with a secret contract negotiation going on - we need to get the government to start growing up and showing some responsibility in the law courts, with our citizens, and above all - with the police who are supposed to be peacekeepers instead of military strong men.

Wrong - we don't need the RCMP at all - expecially because Municipalties already afford the over priced RCMP, and will save money.

Are you saying that the current budgets - that already provide over priced service, is not paying for the existing police? Do your research - we didn't study this for 3 months to put up with nonsense - but you are giving us a great chance to prove our point.

We can afford municiple forces - we already are.

We don't spank our kids, and the crime rates going down. Murder rates go down - crimes against property go down - but deaths while in RCMP custody go up. You are awesome at relegating the RCMP to a contented Neaderthalism while the rest of society matures and takes responsibility. Most major cities in Canada have gotten rid of them - I think it's you that should reconsider your residency - Canadians deserve better.

@darinsplace You think small towns such as Peachland, or Rock creek can afford to have there own police force? I think you need to fire who ever you had doing this "study". The reality is, if you want lower taxes then there is no way; if you want higher taxes then sure anybody can have a police force. And what do you think is going to happen to the police in the RCMP? They are just going to get jobs with the new police forces, so what exactly are you hoping to change?

@darinsplace You 55 and on the way out. Why don't you leave the decisions about the countries future to the people that will be here to be apart of that future. You are obviously biased in your decision and have no intellectual means of seeing the whole argument. The use of municiple police forces in every city is not economic at all, and therefore RCMP is required. And the fact that all those rates are on the decline proves they are doing there jobs.

All of this anti-RCMP stuff is just BS. Yes there are people in the world, including Canada, who snap and beat the crap out of someone; and guess what sometimes thats a cop. But lets face reality, it occurs every night at house parties and clubs between strangers. The RCMP are here to protect us, and if you get drunk off your ass; then so be it, but don't blame anyone else for your own mistakes. If you don't want RCMP then move to a different country.
