This video was produced from a sequence of still frame images of the middle section of the Belcher Glacier on Devon Island, Nunavut, Canada. The goal of this time lapse project is to monitor the evolution of the surface hydrology on the glacier. The video starts on June 23, 2007 and shows the changes experienced by the glacier's surface throughout the warmest period of summer melt. The snow melts to reveal bare ice, melt-water streams flow across the surface and change routes, and a lake fills and partially drains. The video ends on , July 20, 2007.
The Belcher Glacier is the focus of the Canadian IPY: GLACIODYN Project. For more information, please visit: http://people.uleth.ca/~sarah.boon/IPY_page/index.html
