In the beginning of the video, Instructor Kevin LeGacy provides techniques and tips for two firefighters who are participating in a "Advancing the Initial Attack Line" rotation. This rotation allows firefighters to advance a hose line with the nozzle open to become familiar with the concept. An additional instructor is following up with other firefighters in support positions to show various tips and techniques for firefighters operating behind the nozzle team (if they are available or arrive).

In the second part of the video, Instructors Nate and Curt DeMarse provide tips and techniques of the "Nozzle" and "Back-up" (it doesn't matter what the title of the firefighter/officer is behind the nozzle, the job is the same) positions.

This is just a few minute snippet of our 8-hour Engine Company Operations class.

Other rotations include:
- Stretching the Initial Attack Line where several hose bed/hose load variations (preconnected & static) are discussed, demonstrated and practiced

- Multiple-room scenarios were firefighters use the techniques and tips learned to simulate an attack on a multiple-room fire.

And much more....

To those whom may be watching: This video was shot 09/2008. Nate presently has his own turn-out coat and does not wear his FDNY issue coat.
