After his presentation at Bellarmine University in Louisville, Eddy Gutierrez Zavala talked to the Presbyterian Hunger Program about how farmers are faring in Nicaragua since the US-Central American Free Trade Agreement went into effecct. Gutierrez, of the Confederation of Jalapas Agricultural Cooperatives in Nicaragua, is touring the SE Region of the U.S. to highlight how CAFTA has exacerbated poverty and provoked migration in Nicaragua.
