A review of the EyeTV iPad app. I do a demo of the features and also show the integration with the desktop EyeTV software.

  • Do u have to have a mac

  • @cadebonds Yes the Elgato software is Mac only.

  • Because the EyeTV only has one tuner, what you stream from your iPad would be what is streaming from your Mac. There isn't a way without multiple tuners, which I think you could now do with the HD Home Run that Elgato sells. Check that out if you want different streams on your ipAD and Mac.

  • I have the 250 as well. I haven't played with the HD, but seems like a decent solution for recording from a satellite box. I'm more than happy with recording my over the air content, have never really felt the need to record from my DirecTV box.

Elgato v Slingbox depends on local vs streaming content. I would personally go with a Slingbox given the choice.

  • Yes a Mac is required as it is what tunes and records the live television.

  • I don't have any experience with the Netstream. If you do buy one, let me know how you like it. I'm headed to Macworld today, will keep an eye out for it at the Elgato booth.

  • BEWARE EYETV- IT IS LEFT WING PROPAGANDA. WHEN YOUR STUCK WATCHING BBC YOU KNOW YOUR IN FOR TROUBLE. DO YOU WANT TO FEEL GUILTY FOR THINGS THAT YOU HAD ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH? DITCH EYETV!!!!!!!!!!!! THEY ARE WATCHING YOU!!

  • there is an app called 'Telly' that does the same thing but on Windows.

  • When the live tv is "streaming" does it have to be playing on the Mac at the same time. I understand that the Mac has to be on, and I assume the software open, but are you getting simultaneous streams to both the iPad and Mac of the same thing. I ask, because I would like to use the iPad to watch TV in the B/R at night, but my computer is near the kid's rooms and I don't want to wake them up with sound of TV coming from my Mac.

  • What kind of EyeTv device do you have? I have the 250 but Im thinking about getting the EyeTv HD for set top boxes. Do you think that is a good idea or should I go with a Slingbox HD pro?

  • do you need to have a mac?

it dowsnt work only with Ipad?
