Council and Community Angry over Cell Phone Tower
METCHOSIN -- People living on a stretch of Rocky Point Road in rural Metchosin are angry about a 30 meter cell phone tower that's going up close to their homes.
Mayor John Ranns says Telus hasn't properly consulted council or the community about the site, and he feels it should be moved to a less populated area.
Telus Spokesperson Shawn Hall says the telecommunication giant did consult with council, and they are going ahead with the construction by the end of the year. He says people have complained about spotty reception in the area for years, and this will fix the problem.
