Taylor West, a Democratic campaign veteran and consultant at Washington-based New Partners, Inc., discusses health care reform and jobs in a segment with Neil Cavuto on Fox.
Quote: Eager to offer a conversion parable, the instructors showed a Fox News appearance by PTI graduate Taylor West, now a communications director for National Journal, in which her good-natured teasing bested a conservative expert on Web security. She knew virtually nothing about the issue and crammed for the interview in the makeup chair.
Good luck with all of this. They have the votes (in both houses) so not sure why they are bitching about the Republicans they do not need any of their votes, I find that hysterical
No one is asking anyone to put faith in any politician, just to read the relevant sections of the bill & see if the bill itself, not some politician, makes much needed changes to the HC insur. system.
;As for the "2000 page" scare tactic, even an ordinary paperback novel is around 400 pages even without the wide page margins & indexing system of the HC bill.
Also, many of the sections are just choices of provisions in previous bills that were already studied to death.
I scanned the bill, & even an ordinary person can pick those sections on a topic that interests them and read it more closely.
You have worn me down so I will close by saying that my faith will never, ever be in the hands of Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and Barney Frank and this bill is a farse. Charles Barkely said that poor people have been voting for Democrats for 50 years and they are still poor. Unfortunately I live in the South and many poor people ride the Government gravy train and the rest of us pay for it.
That's right. You pay for them in for emergency ward visits - the most expensive form of HC delivery, & not only for homeless etc. but also for those who cannot get insur. due to preexisting conditions or because even though they are working they can't afford the escalating HC premiums. The bill adresses all of that. If they can pay, they will have to pay or be fined. So the bill actually addresses your concerns.
On the scare tactic issue, remember the scare tactic that "we have to pass the stimulas bill or the world will collapse, that was farse and will never fix the problem in the long-run, just read how it failed with FDR. AIG was to big to fail but Lehman Brothers wasn't. Mega they are playing us like fiddles and I for one are for term limits on these idiots and Fair Tax, and that will help.
Unfortunately this will not do it. You and I currently pay for the illegal immigrants, homeless and just plain lazy Americans that only have to walk into an ER and cannot be denied coverage. These folks will never choose to go on gov't coverage because they actually have to pay. I appreciate the time you actually spent on it, because a recent poll shows that 60% of Congress has not read the whole 2,000 page bill, that is an embarrassment.
Here's a few eg.'s of bill sections you won't hear about from the GOP: Page 122. sect. 233(a) 3. responsibility for guidelines to make insurance plans more easily understood using standard plain language.Sect. 144, which creates an ombudsman to finally assist people who have been screwed by their insurance company.
sect. 152, preventing unfair discrimination in providing health care coverage.sect. 153. whistle blower protection
sect 162. Ending health insurance rescission abuse.
I also actually scanned the bill itself, paying particular attention to those sections relevant to GOP scare tactics - and decided this bill is far better than what will exist if it's not passed.

Mega,

But I like your spunk!
