Test reception and audio quality in LW Band. Both receivers use the built-in ferrite antenna. I think that in this test Sony is better...

  • As for amazing performance on SW and VHF and acceptable on MW, long waves seem rather crappy... Good for strong stations, totally disappoints when dx-ing. If you want a good LW receiver, the old byelarussian Selena 216 outperforms most radios in the range and quality of received stations.

  • Yes, the Degen de 1103 is a good radio on LW with the telescopic antenna. Much more better then other portable radios.

  • Apostolis Bravo, very good job!

The Degen DE1103 has not good sensitivity "therefore ferrite" to LW band. The difference makes the external antenna! Take example from the test that makes his friend IW3FZQ.
