Michael Maxwell Steer performs Byrde's remarkable evocation of bell ringing. This film gives you the opportunity to follow the score while you watch the performance. Compare it with a recording I made 3 years ago - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UmbbmQmepys
This is own Byrde's spelling of his name. The music comes down to us in The Fitzwilliam Virginal Book, a unique collection of Elizabethan keyboard music probably compiled by the catholic recusant Francis Tregian during his 24 year incarceration in the Fleet Prison. Byrde's relationship with his fellow-catholic is not known, but this collection is the main source of his music. To get a further glimpse into this world visit my BBCr3 programme about Thomas Coryate http://msteer.co.uk/audi/bbc/mp3coryate.html. The harpsichord is a flemish model made in 1996 by Michael Ellis-James, believed to be from a Delin kit. For more about Michael Maxwell Steer visit http://msteer.co.uk/

Very nice. I like the feeling of your interpretation a bit better than Davitt's ~ though his is good too.
