This converter stalls at about 2800 RPM. I eased up the throttle to about 2200 RPM with the brakes applied then launched. I just wanted to see what would happen.

  • The new F150 (04-08) 5.4L uses the 4R75E. The older truck uses the 4R70E. There isn't a huge change between them other than build strength. Gear ratios are about the same. Nobody makes a production after market converter for the new tranny, I had one custom built. Now, if you are sure you have the older one, then look at TCI, they make a few for the older tranny.

  • it still gets up and rolls..... now get you a supercharger!!

  • I am getting the heads ported to get about 30% more airflow and a custom camshaft grind from Comp Cams. I will get the biggest lift, and most duration I can do on this motor, that will still have some good low end tq. I will have to use new beehive springs and phaser limiters. This will give me power to about 6700 RPM. Fastlane told me I should gain about 60 rwhp and rwtq. So that is about 340 rwhp and 400 rwtq. But with huge RPM gain too. Then I will do a supercharger!

  • Be sure and change the valve springs to allow for the higher RPM, sounds like your on the right track for some real power.

  • That video was with the NSR cams. I just swapped the cams with 222/228 with 0.540 lift, beehive springs, cam phaser limiters, and ported the heads. I am waiting for an adapter plate to be made, so I can swap my intake manifold with that one on the 4.6 3v. I am only at 301 rwhp currently. I don't have enough intake flow past 5000 rpm. As soon as I get this installed, I should see another 40 rwhp. So that's around 340 rwhp, compare that to stock..240 rwhp.

  • better thing of doing somthing with the bottom end aswell

  • I have installed racing gears, racing TQ converter and a new Ford Lightning tranny.

  • @ashtrey05 dont get comp cams...go to "MHS" they have the best cams for the 2 valve..its not about lift on the 2 valve pi or npi it about duration and a LAS of 109 to 110 and a centerline of 106/114 or 106/112 in a npi head iam going to get a set of npi cams..duriation- 220/223 lift-525/500 centerline-106/114 lsa-110....i know they are small but i have seen dyno charts that have 30+rwhp with small boltons..exhaust and intake...if you have npi heads you will get alot more torque then pi heads.

  • Where did you get the custom torque converter from?

  • do what this guy did. install a lightning spec E4OD aka 4r100. the only thing, he didnt mention is wiring and controlling the e40d, a stock 4.6l computer cannot run that tranny, also the 4R70E doesnt have as many input/output wires going to it, so you will need a tranny harness out of a 5.4l powered truck.... easiest way is to get a stand alone controller for the E4OD

  • You got a 4R75E tranny ? I got a Turbo 06 F150 with a 4R70E do you know of a Converter for it trying to find 1 while I got my motor pulled to swap to a built 4.6L

    Thanks for any help
