The engine is now finished enough to make this video. Electronic governor with throttle actuator made from old hard drive head positioner. Timing is also changed electronically using another head positioner.

The engine did not run as well as I would have liked but it's good enough to get the video out of the way.

You can see the whole story of building Engine Number Four on my web page: http://www.eldensengines.com
Thanks for watching

  • Superb! Very interesting electronic govenor, gives extreemly accurate control over speed and economy?

  • @steamwally and guys:

Thanks for the comments! The governor has the potential to work very well but, as of the video it was a bit unstable. Combine that with an iffy spark plug and a weak intake valve spring and it runs as you see.

I probably won't be doing another video of it but will continue to "develop" it until it runs to suit me or I get bored with it. :-)

    Again, thanks, guys!

  • Very cool!

  • Thanks, it sure is an inetersting idea. I could see it wasn't quite getting settled but it's not bad, I could never get a home built engine running for a start!
