Down the Grand Hotel Hill

Christine taped this while going downhill about 30 to 40 mph. Did anyone tell her that there is a fine of more than $100 for speeding over 25 mph there? You can see Kim and Marcel pass by her on the tandem bike.

guy's have you every tried going down the hill after getting drunk...it horrifying...me n my friend we doth were drunk n were going down the hill at 12 pm for party in horns..it was amazing...n my friend was riding so fast that by looking at her i got so scared n there was no effect of getting drunk,i started feeling normal

but there is on thing i worked there for 6 months n my housing was on top of the hill...getting there after work climbing those 4 hills SUCKED....

i have only done that twice. its fun. but there is only about 2 police men on the island so i dont think you would get caught

I've gone done this hill many of time...at high speed...lived to tell it, been almost cited for speeding, and a CUI (cycling under influence) they first gotta catch ya on the bike, second they gotta catch ya in the act, and 3rd and final You better have a bike thats well equipped better than the police which isn't too too hard scince they use bikes that are 3-8yrs old and cannot stop like some of these newer Hi-peformance bikes...ie Disc set ups and Vbrakes..Top speed using road gears 47mph

i went and stayed at the grand for the forth of july. riding down the hill gave me such a thrill wow it was so amazing we go every other year.

@ crikeyusa1: You aren't the only one to see 'em kill themselves on that hill. I worked 9 summers on "the Rock" (Teamster for Service Co, guide for Jack's/Cindy's) and every single year I was up there, I saw somebody wrap themselves around that first light post (the one this vid goes by at about 0:31) at 30+ MPH. Not pretty...

(Full disclosure: I'd be lying if I said I never flew down it myself - coming home from the dray barn at the end of the day, you just wanna GET THERE, y'know?)

Wish I had the guts to try that! It look like alot of fun.My husband and I stayed at the Grand Hotel on vacation 5 years ago.We love the island and can't wait to go back.Thanks for sharing!

happy to see you made it to the bottom of the hill. as an emergency services volunteer, every year i see horrible injuries from people speeding down that same hill & crashing. we average 1 death per year on that hill from people speeding on bikes.
