@hermankatnip So you would execute one child for having killed another child? Or would you agree that children should definately be exempt from the death penalty?, and if so, up untill what age?
People with mental retardation have a much younger mental age than their real age, depending on the severity of their retardation. An adult can have a mental age of a child, hence the same diminished understanding of right & wrong. Executing a kid or a mentally retarded person = the same.

@thefugitive1965 You don't seem to be aware of the fact that vast numbers of people get innocently sentenced to death and sometimes even executed? Especially in the usa (I suspect that's where you're from) where the legal system is incredibly corrupted and race/class predjudiced. In some states, more people get exonerated from death sentences after reviewing new compelling evidence (such as DNA), than there are new people being sentenced to death. What a disgrace.

@getoman10 do you understand humans are very adaptable creatures? we get used to certain living conditions as time goes on. this guy flat out raped killed an 11 year old girl and left this guy for dead. i don't care if he was mentally ill or not, he's obviously a burden to humanity. locking him up for 70-80 yrs giving him free meals and shelter is inhuman to the victims and will only give him time to adapt to his new life.

Not only does capital punishment not deter crime, and not only does it cost the state more than life sentences, and not only was the man mentally handicap, but the family was apathetic about the death.
