December 18, 2011 - Pomai Kinney's Celebration of Life‏
Aloha kakou he Hawaii au,

Mahalo piha e Mikahala for joining with us as we celebrated the life of Henry Richard Po'omai'kaikalani Kinney (Pomai) at the Aha o Ka Po'e. We were blessed by you singing your song "Majesty, Lili'u" via cell phone and were able to pick it up via a PA system we had. Pomai's Ohana are very grateful to all who came and shared.

In the beginning, we were blessed by slight u'a every time Pomai's inoa was mentioned and consequently it got wet. But then it cleared with beautiful sun rays covering the lokahi to the end at 1:00 PM.

We had a beautiful day with Pomai and his family. A gathering of about 75 of us, of which at least 25 were Pomai's Ohana. Braddah Pomai's ohana confirmed what we had learned of Pomai, he was different from baby time!

Special mahalo to A'o and Lucky Rodenhurst for providing tents and chairs, and even a lua. And a special mahalo to Po'okela for sharing his makana with us, we are truly blessed to have this young kanaka maoli in our midst. A'o could and should write a book on Pomai and the others she has marched with throughout the years..

We were also blessed by having Braddah Brown, who is the ggrand son of Kaulana na Pua's, Anake Ellen Wright Prendergast and his wife. Mahalo to Sista Leona Kalima, who was very close to Pomai, and to Kahu Michael Lee for sharing their mana'o of Pomai. And to KeAloha Aiu who got to know Pomai as Pomai did of he. And of course, in closing the meles of Kina, Laulani and Leon.

Mahalo to all who came and to those who had the chance to shared momemts in your life with Pomai. Because of you, we gave Braddah Pomai the aloha he so deserves. Pomai would have been 73 years on December 26. Please give him an "aloha ka'ua" moment on that day in ho'omaika'I.

Attached are some pictures taken by Sista Lynette Cruz who had to leave early for other commitment. I know there will be videos by Kamuela and Pono later.
