(May 28)[Notes:ANCHOR VOICE] A hundred years ago, if your toilet wasn't working, there was probably still an outhouse out back -- but that's certainly not an option for a trio of astronauts on the International Space Station.The ONE toilet on board is broken. That means when it's time to "go" astronauts are using a back-up system that involves a bag-like collection. NASA says one crew member was using the toilet last week when the toilet motor fan stopped working. The fan collects liquid waste -- and now it only works on and off. Astronauts have used the toilet on the Soyuz capsule attached to the station - but it has a limited capacity, so it's not a long-term solution.The good news is the space shuttle Discovery is due to pay a visit next week -- and someone will likely be doing some self-help plumbing work. Oh...and as for that "other" need toilet users have -- officials say the solid waste collecting part of the toilet is functioning properly.
