When Kiara was a teenager she went to Outlads. She was looking for Kovu, but she found Nuka... Waka and Azima are the results of this meeting.
Kiara keeps them in a secret from the rest of the pride. When cubs were ready to live without mother's milk she takes them to the Outlands and found Nuka:
"They are your cubs. You can do with them everything what you want. I'm a princess and I can't have cubs with an Outlander. I don't know what you should do with them. You can kill them if you want. I don't care about that!" she said.
Nuka wasn't so cruell as Kiara, so he took cubs to his mate Janja. She adopted them, and love as her own cubs.
