Cycling the center of The Hague in the Netherlands (Den Haag in Dutch). Through the shopping streets to the central railway station on a public transport bicycle (OV-fiets) that had to be returned.

  • I had a discussion with a bloke that was in favour of shared paths, whereas I tend to favour seperate cycle lanes, and seperate footpaths. He said that in The Netherlands all are shared paths and said he has been there, is this correct?

  • @KrunchyJD Germany has a lot of shared (bicycle/pedestrian) paths. In the Netherlands those are extremely rare and where they exist people don't like them. The shared shopping street in this video is a complete disaster. So most bicycle paths in the NL are only for bikes, they are almost never shared with pedestrians.

  • Loved this! I cycled in -24C/deep winter earlier today... The Hague is a nice big change from that!! Bet gears and brakes don't freeze up on you in The Hague! Normally when it gets close to over -15C I find it too cold for cycling. Cool video!!

  • This must have been done on one of the few days a year when it does not rain in Holland.

  • pfff I hate going through that main shopping street so much...every single time it's as if all peds are colour blind...no attention to bikers whatsoever...especially in the weekends

  • peds are extinct in Los Angeles, everyone [often rude] have to be in auto to get somewhere, so much better here in the Netherlands. thx.

  • in my country...this is suicide :)))

  • I always have to ring my cycle-bell more than 5 times for those pedestrians.

  • Four years ago we had a meeting in Den Haag and were told that there was a shared street that didn't work very well. I think that's the one you found at 2:00 to 3:30. We were also told that the cycling rate of Den Haag was "low" for the Netherlands as just 30% of journeys are by bike. You can really see the difference in quality of provision and pleasantness of cycling in Den Haag compared with other Dutch cities.

  • Love your videos! Please do a ride through Nijmegen, my favorite Dutch city,
